How to Measure Your Foot
- Place a piece of paper on a hard floor (not carpet — carpet compresses under your foot and gives a false reading).
- Stand on the paper with your full weight. Your foot spreads under load, so always measure standing, not sitting.
- Mark the back of your heel where it touches the paper.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe. This may be your second toe, not your big toe — check both.
- Measure the distance in centimetres between the two marks.
- If your feet differ in size (very common), use the measurement of the larger foot.
- Add 0.5–1 cm for toe clearance. This is your target internal shoe length.

When In Doubt, Size Up
If your foot measurement puts you between two sizes, always choose the larger size. In a wide-toe-box barefoot shoe, a slightly longer fit is better than a slightly shorter one — your toes need room to splay and spread naturally. A shoe that is 0.5 cm too long is comfortable. A shoe that is 0.5 cm too short is not.
Width
EQUINOX shoes are built on an anatomical last — they are wider than conventional shoes by design. If you have particularly wide feet, you will likely find this more comfortable than any conventional shoe you have worn. If your feet have been compressed by narrow shoes for years, your toes may need a few weeks to decompress and spread into the available space. This is normal and expected.

The Aqua Five and Trail Aqua have five individual toe pockets. Sizing works the same way — measure your foot length and match to the chart above. The toe pockets are designed to accommodate the natural range of toe lengths. If you have unusually long second or third toes, size up one.

Sole durability
Trail Aqua carries EQUINOX's most aggressive lug compound — a trail-rated rubber with deep multi-directional lugs calibrated for mud, loose rock and wet terrain. The compound balances grip in wet conditions (where soft rubber performs) with abrasion resistance on dry rock (where harder compounds last). Under mixed trail/water use: 500–800 km. The five-toe sole architecture distributes load across a wider contact area than a standard sole, reducing peak pressure per lug and extending tread life. On predominantly dry trail, expect the upper end; on heavily wet/muddy terrain, the lower.
Care note: rinse mud off immediately after use — dried mud compounds accelerate lug wear. Rinse salt and chlorine after water use. Air dry completely. Inspect lugs every 150 km on abrasive terrain.
